This project involves in depth research in primary and secondary sources. Papers should include page numbers and footnotes.
Key research questions include:
Whats the history of the 54th Massachusetts infantry regiment in 1863 and what they did at Fort Wagner?
When was the battle?
Who fought in the battle? How many men on each side?
What was the outcome of the battle?
What was its original intent/purpose?
(ex. consult primary sources, such as newspapers)
What aspects of the Civil War/Reconstruction history is the topic connected to?
How would you evaluate its interpretation/commemoration of these historical events?
How would you improve/enhance this interpretation? (ex. consult textbooks, historical monographs/articles)
