Question I
“Elderscapes” comprises of a variety of media (images, text, interviews, short films, maps, etc.). Describe two advantages that using different media has with regards to presenting research findings. Ask yourself questions such as: What are photographs able to do that written text is not? What can a filmed interview convey that photos of a meeting cannot? You must use at least two examples (two different scenes) from “Elderscapes” to support your argument and make sure to properly cite information taken from this week’s readings.
Question II
How does the non-linear storytelling style of “Elderscapes” compare to the linear style of “The Professional Foreigner” when it comes to presenting the findings of each project. Do you think that using a linear documentary style would have worked for “Elderscapes”? Could “The Professional Foreigner” been more telling if it had followed a non-linear approach? Make sure to refer ton specific aims each project has in order to justify your answer. Please note that you must also properly cite information taken from the readings.
