Social Inequality
Instructions: Respond to all of these questions.
Guidelines for length are given for each; the total number of double-spaced pages for the whole assignment should be 3 or so pages.
But, instead of fixating on page length, focus on communicating in a way these important and weighty issues deserve.
I. Patriarchy :
In a page or page and one-half, use the analogy of the patriarchy tree to explain what is a patriarchal society, including why it is very hard, but not impossible, to change.
II. Pay Gap :
A: On page 379 of Lean In or Opt Out, Jenny Stuber says that the central question of her chapter is, why do men continue to outearn women?
She uses micro-level (or player level) and macro-level (or game level) factors to answer that question.
So: with about one page or so, explain the major micro-level and macro-level factors behind the persistent pay gap.
b: Micro-level and macro-level factors do not work in isolation of each other; they intertwine (even during a pandemic!). So, in about page or so, give an example one may get from that chapter of how they interact to create or maintain the pay inequality.
