Any topic (writer’s choice)

Presentations are due Saturday, April 29. You will select a current issue or conflict. After you select your topic, work through the arguments addressed through the lecture in Chapters 10-14 of Writing Arguments: Definition, Causal, Resemblance, Evaluative/Ethical, and Proposal or Call to Action. What or who are on either side? Include court cases or famous precedents, what consequences or principles are involved, what are common problems in resolving or dealing with the issue, create an analogy, what are causes of issue or conflict, what is the anticipated effect of proposed solution? What measures have already been taken? You will present a possible solution or measure people should take. Be sure your presentation contains a full introduction and summary to open your presentation and conclude.

This presentation needs to be a video, narrated PowerPoint, or use any other media of your choosing which allows you to show images and record your voice. You may also include audio clips of music (not to exceed 45 seconds of the presentation content total). The presentation is to be five minutes and is under no language or style restrictions (do not worry about active voice or formal tone). Be sure to introduce yourself and your topic at the beginning of your presentation. Make sure your presentation contains a complete introduction and conclusion, similar to the essays. Whatever media or technology you use is up to you (a narrated PowerPoint or Prezi) as long as there are visuals of your topic and I can hear your voice.

You will be graded on a scale of one to five (five being the highest) for a total of 100 points in the following categories: Introduction, Body (including organization, understanding, and examples), Conclusion, Visual Aids/Imagery (including reinforce topic, support topic, and overall appearance), Delivery (clarity, volume, pacing), and Time (to earn full points in this category, your presentation must clock in within twenty seconds of the five-minute goal). You will be graded as an individual; there is no group element in this presentation.
