If you don’t already have children, imagine that you do or will have them in the future. Given the information and research findings on operant conditioning in your textbook and lecture, explain how you would respond to your child when they did something that you did not want them to do. Also describe what you would do to increase a behavior you wanted your kid to display? When would you use positive reinforcement versus negative reinforcement? What sort of reinforcement schedule would you use? When would you punishment to teach them things? What are some of the negative aspects that could arise from using punishment with a child? Which do you think is most effective at changing a child’s behavior – reinforcement or punishment?
I will take off points if it is not clear to me that you understand the difference between positive and negative reinforcement and punishment.
