Goal: Use your reading comprehension and active voice to analyze the relationship between form and content in Virginia Woolfs short story Blue & Green.
Instructions:
Virginia Woolfs short story Blue & Green describes many objects and natural phenomena, but its goal is not to describe these completely. Instead, this short story collects these descriptions and uses them as fleeting impressions of blue and green. To start for this assignment, go through the short story and clarify how you would describe the mood from clause to clause in this short story.
Quick note: the mood, or tone, is often indicated by adjectives and adverbs provide a lot of this information, as does the rhythm of the clauses and sentences in this short story.
Now, look at the punctuation, sentence lengths, etc. in the story.
Based on this, how are form and content related? What does this relation help this story to say? And what are the stakes of what its saying?
