You will answer the following questions in an essay of 1100 words: We have looked at many types of music made in this country by numerous different groups of people over more than four centuries. Provide a definition of American music. Then name four musicians and/or composers spread between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries that you consider representative examples of what could be called American in music. For each, describe why, citing reasons to be found in their lives, writings, and/or musical output.
