The subject of decolonization, also referred to as Independence Movements in Africa in the post World War II period. Focus on the years from the 1950s to 1980( date of independence for Zimbabwe, formerly Southern Rhodesia). Review the motives for European imperialism and impact of European colonial rule on the African people, what were the grievances of the colonized Africans against European colonial policies, how did the Africans organize to resist and demand change, who were the leaders of the movements, how did the European colonizers react to demands for change, what were the differences in the colonies and the way they achieved their goals?
