With reference to lecture material and assigned reading, describe the use of tax
expenditure and direct expenditure or subsidy policy tools for film and television
production in Canada. Explain how the Canadian Film and Video Production Tax
Credit (CPTC) and the Canada Media Fund (CMF) help support Canadian film,
television and digital media industries and develop existing markets for Canadian
media content. As more Canadians consume film, television and video on-line, how
well do you think these policy tools will continue to meet policy objectives of
creating Canadian content and ensuring access to it on Internet and digital platforms?
