Write an essay of 1,000-1,250 words (4-5 pages, double-spaced) using all of the numbered points below. You will not need any outside sources for this essay.
Provide a summary of Brave New Worlds New London society through Chapter 6. Briefly describe and discuss the role of each of the major characters that has been introduced (Lenina, Bernard, Helmholtz). What are the major values/beliefs present in this society (in other words, what are the social rules that these people live by)?
Remember that summaries are brief. Work and revise to make your summary short but complete and clear. Choose which ideas/elements you think are the most important, and emphasize those.
Discuss one primary source of conflict in the novel. What elements of the book are creating tension? (It could be external or internal.) What questions does the author, Aldous Huxley, seem to want us readers to be asking ourselves as we read?
Do you have any predictions for these characters? Do you foresee a happy ending? Why/why not? (Base your answers on what you know of the characters already. Use evidence from the text!)
