Find an economic tie-in from the current pandemic. In other words, a real world example of something you have learned about in macroeconomics!

Assignment: Find an economic tie-in from the current pandemic. In other words, a real world example of something you have learned about in macroeconomics!

Then write a two to three-page, double spaced essay, that explains the example using macroeconomics. You can use any of the information that you have learned already or anything in your textbook that we have not covered yet (for example, we will do trade later on in the course but you could discuss trade as it relates to the pandemic even though we haven’t covered it yet).

Please keep in mind that the example should not get too large and unwieldy. In a short essay you want to pick something straightforward and small. So you would not want to do ALL of aggregate demand, but rather chose just “consumption” or “exports”.

Rubric:

Economic Concept – 50% of grade (10% each)
The concept is accurate –  you do not make a fundamental mistake in the economic concept you are describing
The concept is explained well – a reader, who only know something about economics (for example a classmate), would understand your explanation
The example is explained well in terms of the concept – you do a good job of tying the concept and the example together
Graphs, charts, numbers, or quotes are used to backup concept – you don’t just tell us, you show us and quote backup sources!
Economic terms are used throughout the essay – you use the accurate economic terms that we use in class and are in your textbook
