Texts: Hollow Claims about Fantasy Violence by Richard Rhodes; A Desensitized Society Drenched in Sleaze by Jeff Jacoby.Topic: Theinfluence of the media onindividual violent behavior has been a subject of fierce debate.In Hollow Claims about Fantasy Violence, Richard Rhodes argues that family and peer relationships, rather than movies and TV,have been the primary influences on people who commit violence. However, Jeff Jacoby sees violence-drenched entertainment as a gateway to the riots and lurid crimes that have plagued this country over the last several decades. What do you think?Writing Task: In a well-developed, thesis-driven essay of at least three and-a-half pages, answer the following question:Is the media the primary cause of violence in America today?Requirements: 1) Use proper format. 2) Underline your thesis. 3) Cite bothof the sources above. You may use other sources of your own choosing as well. 4) Use proper MLA format, including in-text citations and a Works Cited page.5) All of your quotations need to be set up with the Sandwich Method. 6) Your paper must go at least halfway onto the fourth page, not including the Works Cited page.Tips: 1) Keep in mind that when you quote another author, you do not need to agree with him/her. In fact, in college-level writing you are expected to acknowledge and refute opposing arguments. Be sure, therefore,to explain why either Rhodes or Jacoby ismistaken in his conclusions.2) Avoid using personal experience to support your ideas. 3) Avoid using you or your in your essay. 4) Dont avoid the issue at hand by arguing that individuals are the cause of violence. Everyone agrees that individuals should be held responsible for their crimes. We dont all agree, however, on the primary socialcause of violence. If you dont think that the media is the primary cause of violence in America today, be sure toexplain why another social cause exerts greater influence. 5) If you argue that the media is not primarily responsible for violence in America today, you may want to address the argument of those who suggest that it is
