The purpose of this assignment is for students to identify the symbols and history used to create the art and portrayal of the Native peoples in the Caribbean and Latin American in the 16th Century.

Identify symbols, cultures and images from the past that they were drawing from.

Provide background and reasoning on why the artists portray the natives as monstrous races.
Define the study of Ethnography in your paper and how it was being used in this article.
