Research the challenges, strengths and issues of concern of the particular group in society,
Provide a current issues article (e.g. newspaper or journal source),
a listing and overview of relevant social services or programs or programs which can be accessed
at the national level (for Distance Delivery students)
Preferred Topic: SWRK Role in Supporting Individuals Mental Health
(FOCUS ON ONLY THE STRENGTH PART OF THE ROLE OF SOCIAL WORKERS SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL HEALTH. RESPOND TO THE POINTS BELOW.)
Gap between what systems perceive of clients and what clients lived experience perceive. How swrk can
play a unique role as connector and in viewing the individual holistically (not focusing on diagnosis,
specialization, or deficiencies) . TIC, brain story, emphasizes the profound impact of trauma and defines
the individual as the expert on what support is needed to thrive
*Systems include traditional hierarchical, specialty, medical models AND clinicians in mental health in
general – psych., swrk, counsellors, etc
